- Skin Conditions and Treatments
Skin conditions can be uncomfortable, persistent and sometimes difficult to manage. GPs consulting at Albany Skin Clinic have a special interest and additional training in skin health and can assess and manage a wide range of common and more complex skin concerns.
Whether you have a new skin concern or an ongoing condition that isn’t responding as expected, an appointment allows your GP to assess your skin, discuss your symptoms and recommend an appropriate treatment or management plan.

Treatment options
Treatment will depend on your individual condition and may include prescription or non-prescription medications, topical preparations, minor procedures or other therapies.
For some skin conditions, phototherapy or laser treatment may also be recommended. Laser may be used to treat certain concerns such as warts, pigmentation and vascular conditions, including rosacea-related redness, depending on the individual condition.
Some treatments require a particular application routine or may need to be prepared by a compounding pharmacy. Your GP will explain the recommended treatment, how to use it and what to expect.
Phototherapy
Ongoing care
Some skin conditions require ongoing management rather than a single treatment. Your GP may recommend review appointments to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment where required.
If your skin condition requires specialist assessment or treatment, your GP can arrange a referral to a dermatologist or other appropriate specialist.
